Teacher Appreciation
Here are the plans for the rest of this week:
Wednesday, May 7 - Restock your teacher's favorite school supplies!
Thursday, May 8 - Teacher favorites! Please consider sending in one of your teacher's favorite things!
Friday, May 9 - Soup and Salad Potluck, provided by Angell families.
You should have received lists of your teacher’s favorite things and favorite school supplies from your room parents last week. These are just suggestions! If you want to do something else to show the love, please do!

Family Contributions - Last few weeks to help make a difference
Ice Cream Social Sponsorships- We are looking for corporate sponsors, alumni and anyone interested in donating funds for Ice Cream Social. We thank and advertise your business or yourself on the Angell Facebook page and in our PTO notes. All proceeds will go back to enrichment opportunities. If interested, please contract Ariel Hurwitz-Greene ( Fundraising Coordinator)-fundraising@angellpto.org
Please consider if you haven’t donated already. We need your support! Each school year our PTO spends tens of thousands of dollars to provide enrichment opportunities for Angell students and families. When we reach $20,000, Principal Fenech will draw two names to be Principal for half a day. We are so close to reaching our goal, under $1000 to go. We welcome any amount, and please remember to ask your employer about a corporate match. Payments may be made via Venmo @angellptotreasurer. Last 4 digits: 0375. Please include in the memo: email
address, name of student(s), and “Fall FC.” Help us get to our goal by the end of April!
PTOC Fundraiser
The PTO Council has launched their 2025 $20 for $30k Fundraiser. PTO income varies across schools in the district with a range of $40 per student per year to $238 per student per year. Please consider donating $20 (or more) to help increase Ann Arbor Title I schools’ per pupil spending. If you can’t donate at this time, help spread the word about the fundraiser in our community. Join the effort to create equitable educational opportunities for every child in Ann Arbor!
Notes from Principal Fenech & the Office
MAY-HEM
My apologies if there's a delay in my email response time. I often refer to this month as “May-hem” - a fitting name given the whirlwind of responsibilities it brings. This includes evaluating the entire staff, proctoring the M-STEP for students with small-group accommodations, attending annual IEP meetings, evaluating the entire staff, planning 5th grade camp and end-of-year activities, welcoming new families with tours, and preparing for the 2025–26 school year!
All of this is happening while we're also short on teaching assistants—at a time when student needs aren’t diminished. Substitute teacher shortages are also common every Friday so don’t be surprised to see me teaching specials classes. I share this not as a complaint, but to offer some context for any lag in communication. Thank you for your understanding! Please nudge me if you’re awaiting a response. I know your world is also filled this time of the year. Parenting is challenging, and it's okay to feel overwhelmed at times. Practice self-compassion and acknowledge your efforts!
SAVE-THE-DATE: CELEBRATING PAM FRIDAY
Please mark your calendars! We're celebrating Pam Friday’s 30-year career in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. Join us on Tuesday, May 27th, from 4:00-5:00PM as we gather to honor Pam and her incredible contributions to our school and community. Invitation and details to follow.
We are very excited to announce our 2024 Learning Grant Awards below. Thank you to the students, teachers and parents, who submitted applications for our new Learning Grant Program to propose projects that benefit the learning of the Angell Elementary community. The Angell Community is so creative!
